All football players born 2000 here in Cebu are called to the open tryouts for the Philippine Under 16 team, June 9 and 10 at the football field of the Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) in Punta Princesa, Cebu City.
The tryouts will be conducted by Philippine U16 head coach Mari Aberasturi in three sessions—June 9, 6am to 8am and 3pm to 6pm, and June 10, 6am to 8am.
Aberasturi has already conducted tryouts in Bukidnon over the weekend and after here, he will also hold tryouts in Bacolod, Dipolog and lastly in Manila.
According to Aberasturi, he will be selecting 30 players who show potentials for the one month training camp which will start on June 25 at the University of the Philippines Los Banos with the expenses to be shouldered by the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) excluding allowance for the players.
From 30, 18 will be selected to man the official lineup of the Philippine U16 that will see action in the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Under 16 Youth Championship which will kick off on July 27 in Indonesia and end in August.
Aberasturi’s assistant coach will be former Philippine Azkals standout Emilio “Chieffy” Caligdong while the goalkeeping coach will be Anthony Albao.
In the Cebu tryout, Aberasturi will be assisted by coaches Jose Dennis Penalosa, Glen Ramos, Dave Gerali, who is also the goalkeeping coach of the Philippine Under 14, and Allan Medalla.
