PRESS RELEASE
Technological Institute of the Philippines goes all-out to surprise fancied Ateneo and gain at least a playoff for the last quarterfinal berth in Group B even as Far Eastern U guns for a sweep of Group A against National U in the Shakey’s V-League Season 12-Collegiate Conference at The Arena in San Juan City today.
Tied with the San Sebastian Lady Stags and La Salle-Dasmariñas Lady Patriots at fourth at 1-3 with one game left, the TIP Lady Engineers try to nail the big one against the big team which is also out to complete its domination of the Group B elims.
Still, TIP coach Boy Paril hopes to draw the best from the likes of guest players Hezzymei Acuna and Angelica Perez and mainstays Sheeka Espinosa, Jane Maderazo, Gayle Layug and Faith Maturan when they face the Lady Eagles in the 5 p.m. main game.
SSC closes out its elims campaign against UST while La Salle-Dasma winds up its stint against St. Benilde at the close of the single round robin elims of the mid-season offering of the league sponsored by Shakey’s and presented by PLDT Home Ultera.
The Lady Tams and the Lady Bulldogs also hope to provide top-notch action as they collide in the 12:45 p.m. opener to be aired live on GMA News TV Channel 11.
Unbeaten in four starts, FEU will be hard-pressed to complete its sweep bid against an NU side also raring to finish with a flourish and bring that winning feeling to the quarters of the event backed by Mikasa and Accel.
Arellano, with a 3-1 card, also tries to build some momentum going to the next phase as it tangles with University of the Philippines side at 3 p.m. Despite their loss, their second against the same number of the wins, to the Lady Tams last week, the Maroons are assured of a spot in the quarters as University of Batangas and Polytechnic University of the Philippines are out of the race with identical 0-4 cards.
Meanwhile, the Arellano-UP duel will be aired on Monday while the Ateneo-TIP clash will be shown on Tuesday, both starting at 1 p.m., according to the organizing Sports Vision.
