A brand new pick-up, a residential lot, a golf cart, a motorcycle, and trips abroad are among the many hole-in-one prizes at stake as The View Invitational 2014 tees off Thursday at the par-72 Alta Vista Golf and Country Club in Pardo, Cebu City.
This is the annual member-guest tournament of the club. In order to accommodate the 400 players taking part in the tournament, organizers have decided to do a shotgun tee off for the four-day, 36-hole event.
Shotgun start will be at 6 a.m. and 12 noon every day. This means that all players for a particular schedule will start playing at the same time. The different flights will be assigned to the various holes of the course.
The pick-up, which is courtesy of Foton will be up for grabs for an ace on hole No. 15. This is also the same hole where Santa Lucia Realty has put a residential lot and Moevenpick Resort Mactan is giving a weekend stay for a hole-in-one.
On hole No. 8, which is guarded by a lake on the left side, a Club Car golf cart, a trip to Singapore from Marist Royal Holidays Travel and Tours, and trip to Korea from Air Busan will be part of the windfall for an ace.
An atmospheric water generator from San Gabriel Metal Concepts will be at stake for an ace on hole No. 2 while a set of Cobra irons will be at stake on hole No. 13.
Hole-in-one prizes that are at stake on the five par-3 holes of the course are a Sunriser Wonderbike from Norkis Trading and bet coupons from Pagcor.
A Skygo motorcycle is also at stake for an eagle on any of the par-4 holes.
In case more than one player will win a particular hole-in-one or eagle prize, they will have to be equally shared.
Each team shall be composed of one club member and a guest and the Modified Stableford Scoring System will be used. There will be prizes for the teams with the lowest overall gross and lowest overall net as well as the top three for three handicap categories.
Teams whose total age is 120 years or older and not one of the players is younger than 55 years old, shall be classified under the seniors’ division. There will also be specially-made plaques for the overall lowest gross and the top three based on net scores for this category.
Pairings for the tournament are posted at the club bulletin board. Players are advised to be at the club not later than 30 minutes before the shotgun start.
Hei Yang Sports is the chief backer of the tournament with Beneficial Life Insurance Co., Cebu Mitsumi Inc., Empire Insurance Co., Mario Ikeda, Joseph Lee, Stradcomm, and Taiyo Yuden also supporting the event.
Set to participate as guests will be players from the other golf clubs in Cebu and the Visayas as well as players from Mindanao and Luzon. There will also be a group of Malaysians from Alta Vista’s sister clubs in Sabah that will be taking part in the tournament.
