Trail bikers will gather as early as 7 a.m. in San Fernando, a town south of Cebu, tomorrow for the San Fernando Enduro Challenge 2015, a prelude to the May-slated XC Challenge 2015.
The San Fernando Trail Riders decided to hold the event to satisfy the cravings of the mountainbike enthusiasts, who wanted to see action in an enduro race following last year’s edition of the cross country race wherein members of the national team saw action and won.
Tomorrow’s event will also serve as the kickoff for The Enduro Network Series which means that winners will be getting points for the overall standings.
This was revealed by Aaron Apas of the San Fernando Trail Riders during a press conference held earlier this month at the Cebu Mountainbike Adventure Shop and Cafe in Guadalupe, Cebu City.
Apas added that they are negotiating for another leg of the TEN series to be held here later in the year.
Tomorrow’s event will have three classes—Open, Beginners and the Female Open and three stages. Organizers have revealed the first and second stages but have kept the third stage as a surprise for tomorrow.
Top 3 finishers in the Open category will pocket P4,000, P3,000 and P2,000, respectively, while the top 3 finishers in both the Beginners and Female Open will get P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000, respectively. All winners will also be receiving certificates while all finishers will get medals.
For the Open competition, participants are required to have a mountainbike with 120mm front suspension while the Beginners and Female Open must have 100mm front suspension.
Organizers will also be strict about participants wearing helmets and shoes while kneepads are not mandatory but participants are strongly advised to wear one.
