Rolando Pila and Mariestila Borres bagged the top honors of the 5th Victor Uy Memorial Golf Tournament for caddies played at the Cebu Country Club recently.
Pila topped the men’s division with a net four under-par 68 off a gross two-under-par 70 in the System-36 format. He fired four birdies, had 12 pars and only made two bogeys during the round.
The men’s division was played on March 30 while that of the distaff side was held one week earlier.
The Division A winners were led by Richard Engano with a net score of 69 strokes off a gross score of three-over-par 75.
First runner-up was Joseph Gacasan with a net score of 70 beating five others in the countback. Second runner-up also via countback was Lando Carenea with a net score of 70 off a gross score of 80.
Those, who also finished with net scores of 70 but lost in the countback were Elando Alfeche, Lindo Dignos, Jefferson Rivera, and Joe Soquiño.
The Division B plum went to Archie Heredia with a net score of 70 off a gross 88. First runner-up was Justino Alfeche with a net score of 71 edging Conrado Arinque and Ricardo Soquiño in the countback. Arinque eventually settled for the second runner-up honors.
Dexter Molina took home the title of Division C with a net score of 80 strokes off a gross 110. First runner-up was Archie Prescillas with a net score of 82 and second runner-up was Renante Estretso with a net score of 83.

LADIES DIVISION
Borres took home the overall title of the ladies division with her net score of 70 strokes off a gross 85. She fired two birdies, five pars, seven bogeys and four double-bogeys to establish a System-36 handicap of 15 for the round.
May Panong ruled Division A with a net score of 73 off a gross score of 95 beating rinafe Arnado in the countback. Arnado settled for the first runner-up honors with her net 73 while Lourdes Gofredo, who had a net 74 finished as second runner-up.
Michelle Villarin topped Division B with a net score of 85 while Nerissa Bulaquia finished as first runner-up with a net score of 86 edging Thelma Labares in the countback. Labares settled for the second runner-up honors.
Cendie Ventura won the Division C title with a net score of 100 beating Ethel Cañete in the countback. Cañete settled for the first runner-up honors while second runner-up was Charito Gacasan with a net score of 101.
The tournament was sponsored by the family of the late Victor Uy to give back to the caddies of the club.
New club president Edward Go attended the awards ceremony along with members of the Uy family.
