Paramount Property Ventures

This year’s Tri Team Championship Series has found a major sponsor in Paramount Property Ventures, a real estate developer.

According to its sales and marketing director, Arli Arcenas-Vergara, this is the first time that they are sponsoring such an event.

“We want to promote triathlon because it is one of the fast growing sport and even our president is into it,” Arcenas-Vergara said.

Abelardo Canedo Jr., the president of the Paramount Property Ventures, has been racing in the 30-34 category.

CHANGES

For this year’s edition of the Tri Team Championship Series, the organizers have implemented a number of changes starting with relay teams only allowed to race in the sprint distance so as not to confuse officiating. The team challenge, on the other hand, will only apply in the standard distance.

Unlike last year which used the levelling method, categories will also be based on age group. An overall top 3 male and female will be chosen while a top 3 male and female in the age group categories will also be chosen.

The top 3 overall will get 40, 35 and 32 points respectively, while below is the list of points in the age group categories:

Place      Points     Place      Points

1st             30           11th          10
2nd           25           12th          9
3rd           20            13th         8
4th           17             14th         7
5th           16             15th         6
6th           15             16th         5
7th           14             17th         4
8th           13             18th         3
9th           12             19th         2
10th         11              20th to the last   1

Organizers have also said that there is no longer a limit in the number of members in the team for the team challenge, wherein the winning team will be determined by the most number of points accumulated in all three legs. These points will be based on how each member finished in their respective categories.

Following this change, organizers are also offering a free registration for teams.

While the top six points will be accumulated, each member who finished will also get to add a point for the team.

This means that the more members a team have, the more chances of it winning the team challenge, which will be awarded on the final leg. The top 3 teams will get a cash prize of P15,000, P10,000 and P5,000, respectively plus trophies.

As for the top 3 overall, which will awarded for every leg, they will be getting P7,000, P5,000 and P3,000, respectively plus medals while the age-group top 3 will be getting medals.

Organizers said that they have lowered the cash prizes for the team challenge because they are no longer asking for a fee, while they have increased the cash prizes for the category overall winners.
