A new format and a new venue await the participants of this year’s Business in Golf Tournament, which tees off at the par-72 Alta Vista Golf and Country Club in Pardo, Cebu City on June 3.

This is the first time that the tournament will be played in Alta Vista, a course designed by the Black Knight Design Company of legendary South African pro Gary Player.

Aside from the venue, tournament chairman Nimrod Quinones said, the BiG will also feature a new format this year.

He said, “the tournament will remain to be a four-man team event, but with a twist.  Each team shall be composed of two pairs, who will play using the best-ball format.  To determine the team score, the scores of the two pairs will be added.”

The Modified Stableford Scoring System will still be used.  This means that a net bogey is worth one point, net par is two, net birdie three, net eagle four, while a gross hole-in-one is worth six and a gross double-eagle is seven.

The best ball format means that two members of the team will be assigned to a flight and what will count for the team total will be the better score of the two players on each hole.

There will be prizes for the top three teams.  The players with the lowest gross and the lowest net will also get prizes.  Hole-in-one prizes are also at stake.

The representative or alternate of a Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry member business or organization with the best score will also be named the Golfer of the Year.

Entry fee for the event is pegged at Php 12,000.  This shall cover the green fee, giveaways, golf cart (one per player), dinner, and raffles for the team.  An early bird rate of Php 11,000 is available until May 16 (Monday).

Those who would like to register can contact the registration office of Alta Vista at (32)2635538 or the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry office.

The Business in Golf Tournament is now on its 23rd year.  This is also part of the Cebu Business Month celebration.

The awards ceremony will be held at the Alta Vista ballroom.
