Triathletes of all ages and duathletes will troop to Danao City early Sunday for the Cebu leg of the 2014 National Age-group Triathlon (NAGT) Series, which will start and end at the city’s new Boardwalk.
Of the more than 100 triathletes, 20 will be kids who will be seeing action in this Triathlon Association of the Philippines-sanctioned event which also features a SuperTriKids contest and a duathlon race.
For the triathlon, top finishers will be declared in each age group category while the duathlon will have the Men’s and Women’s Open titles up for grabs.
Most of the locals are making this event as one of their preparation for the Cobra Half Ironman slated this August. Among those gearing for the August events is the team composed of brothers of Rep. Ace Durano, Vice Mayor Red Durano and Danao City Councilor Mix Durano.
Other locals seeing action are Paul Jake Cuenca who will be leading the Omega Pro Triathlon team and Alan Ting who is spearheading Parklane’s Tri Team.
In the SuperTriKids, defending Cebu’s turf are Justin and Yuan Chiongbian, Aaliyah Mataragnon, Ralph So and Shaia Uy.
Those interested can still register for the event at the venue an hour before the race starts which is about 6 a.m.
Registration fee for triathlon is pegged at P1,000 while both the SuperTriKids and duathlon will charge P500 each.
