There will be four chances to bring home a Mercedes Benz B180 in the Albino D. Gothong Memorial Cup also known as the Amo Cup, which tees off Friday and Saturday at the par-72 Cebu Country Club.

The tournament, which is organized by the Alpa Foundation Inc., is presented by AD Gothong Manufacturing and Security Bank.

The Benz is put on the line as hole-in-one prize on all par-3 holes of the layout.  These are the 3rd, 5th, 13th and 15th.

Entry fee for the tournament is pegged at P2,000 for members of the host club and P 3,000 for non-members.  This tournament follows the 18-hole strokeplay format.

Tournament giveaways are a Timex watch and assorted goodies from the sponsors.

Major backers are Global Star Motors, Atty. Augusto Go/UC Med, Gothong Southern Shipping Lines Inc., Ideal Builders, Pilipinas Shell, and Philippine Span-Asia Carrier Corp.

The overall lowest gross as well as the top three winners based on net scores for classes A, B, and C for men, the ladies division, and the seniors’ (55 years old and above) division will be receiving trophies.

Those who would like to play in the seniors’ division must declare their intention before teeing off.

There is also a Skygo motorcycle at stake as eagle prize on the par-5 holes.

In case more than one player scores an ace or an eagle, the prize will have to be equally shared.

Minor sponsors of the tournament are PLDT and Alpa City Suites.  The hole sponsors are Asia United Bank, Chinabank, Landbank, Metrobank, Prudential Guarantee, RCBC, and Remax Lyons.

Other supporters of the tournament are Prifood, Profood International, Virginia Foods Inc., and Wellington Lim.

Bambi Gothong-Tan, daughter of the late philanthropist and sportsman, who is being honored in this tournament, said that they have also prepared lots of raffle prizes for the players.

Albino Gothong was a popular figure in the Cebu golf community having been responsible in organizing the grand tournaments starting in the mid-1990s with his Filipino-Chinese golf group.

He was also a well-known philanthropist, who supported various organizations and individuals.

The awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, 7 pm at the Cebu Country Club ballroom.  Participants have to be present during the awards ceremony to be eligible to win in the raffles.
