If you think driving around Cebu is tough, then watch the Maxxis 4×4 Cup Extreme Off-Road Challenge Cebu City Leg this weekend at the South Road Properties.
This national event is organized by the Cebu Off-roaders Association (CEBU OFFROAD) together with the National Association of Filipino Off-Roaders (NAsFOR) will feature several of the top drivers from around the country.
Victor Caindec, one of the organizers of the event, told www.fullpointcebu.com that a group of participants from Pampanga has already arrived in Cebu. The venue is right behind the tower of the SRP after the causeway coming from downtown Cebu City.
Caindec said that through this event they hope to revive the interest of Cebuanos on 4×4 racing. The last race that was held here was more than four years ago.
Since this event is sanctioned by NAsFor, participants will be earning points based on their performance in the battle for driver of the year honors and this also serves as a qualifier for the NAsFOR 2014 National 4×4 Series.
Also set to participate will be off-roaders from Manila, Cagayan, Dipolog, Zamboanga, Bacolod, and Dumaguete.
Caindec said that they would be setting up and area for photographers inside the track to allow them to take more interesting action shots.
There will also be a night race for the amateur category where they would be using vehicles that are designed for road use. Caindec said that they are setting up lights in the track.
The event is also backed by Mobil Lubricants, RaceTech Suspensions, and TOPTUL. Other supporters are Spider Taxi, IPI, Ironman 4×4 Parts, Cebu Off-Road Shop, JM2 Parts Trading, Shamrock Cebu, and Sarua Lights and Sounds.
This was made possible through the support of the Cebu City Government, Metropolitan Cebu Water District, and CITOM. This is co-managed by Pro AVM Solutions.
