The Cebu Marathon 2018 is holding an early registration starting Friday, July 28, until Sunday, July 30 at the Ayala Active Zone. For the 11th edition of the race, interested participants can also register online via www.race.ph/cebumarathon2018. Or, visit cebumarathon.ph for more details on how to register online.

Those interested are urged to avail of the early registration because after Sunday, registration will be closed. And, will only be opened again at a later date. Early registration fee for the 42K is P1,400 and P1,100 for the 21K.

The Cebu Marathon 2018 will be going back to its roots as it will once again be organized by its founder, the Cebu Executive Runners Club (CERC). And, for the 11th edition, the annual race have partnered with two of the biggest brands in the sports apparel industry–the 2XU and the New Balance.

Thus, aside from a discounted registration fee, early registrants will also get a commemorative 2XU shirt which will be printed with a design made by Meyrick “Jacs” Jacalan also of CERC. The shirts, however, will not be given outright but will only be distributed during the Race Expo leading to the race date on January 14, 2018. Organizers, however, assured that all those who will register this weekend, either onsite or online, will get the shirt. The shirt cost more than P2,000 but will be given out for free.

Aside from that, 2XU will also be giving a 50 per cent discount on its products while New Balance will be giving out a P500 coupon, said CERC president Kenneth Casquejo.

Casquejo added that the registration will be inclusive of the official race tee, finisher’s medal, sling bag and accident insurance. As in the previous races, participants will have timing chips on their race bibs.

John Pages, also of CERC, explained that they have decided to take over the organization of the Cebu Marathon 2018 because it is a race mainly for the Cebuanos, thus it is only rightful that it should be handled by Cebuanos.

Having founded the race, CERC spearheaded the organization of the Cebu Marathon in its first 6 years before they gave the reins to Runrio in the last four years.

“This time, we would like to have the race be accessible to all, not just for the Cebuanos but to all running enthusiasts and athletes from all over domestic and international,” said Casquejo.

The Cebu Marathon is an annual race held in Cebu City to coincide with the Sinulog celebrations wherein the whole of Cebu honor its patron, the Holy Child Jesus. It is held every second Sunday of January and will start and finish at the Cebu Business Park.
