“A walk on the fairways for the broadcast ministry” will be the main purpose of the 2nd Shepherd’s Cup, which tee off Friday (April 8) at the par-72 Cebu Country Club.

The tournament is a joint project of the Word Broadcasting Corporation and the Archdiocese of Cebu in cooperation with the University of San Carlos, Hyundai Cebu, and Duros Land Inc.

Fr. Bobby Ebisa, SVD, organizer of this 18-hole event said that Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma will again be hitting the ceremonial drive for this event, which offers Hyundai Accent as hole-in-one prize.

The System-36 handicapping format will be used.  This means that each player gets a handicap of 36 at the start of the round and as each hole is played, the player earns points corresponding to his or her score.  A par or better is worth two points, bogey is one and a double-bogey or worse is worth zero. At the end of the round, the player’s handicap is determined by deducting the total points earned from the original handicap of 36.

Registration fee has been pegged at P3,000.  Proceeds of the event are for the radio programs of the Archdiocese of Cebu over dyRF.

Prizes at stake will be for the overall lowest net; the top three for classes A, B and C; and the champion and runner-up of the ladies division.

There will also be prizes for the nearest to the pin on No. 3, longest drive on No. 8, and most accurate drive on No. 16.

Tee off time for the event will be from 8 am to 12 noon. The awards ceremony will be held at the CCC ballroom starting at 6 p.m.
