The 14th Island Tee will open this Thursday at the Mactan Island Golf Club in Lapu-Lapu City.
This is the club’s annual member-guest tournament and it will be using the Modified Stableford Scoring System.
The event will run until Sunday, but the participants will only be playing two rounds within that period.
At stake will be prizes for the overall team champion as well as the top two teams for the three handicap classes for the men as well as the seniors and the ladies divisions.
To qualify for the seniors’ class, both team members must already be senior golfers (not less than 55 years old) and their total age must not be less than 120 years.
There will also be prizes for the top individual performers based on the gross and net scores.
The average handicap of the team members would be used to determine under which category a team would be classified. Players will only be allowed to use three-fourths of their current handicap for this tournament.
At stake as hole-in-one prizes are a Hyundai Accent on holes No. 8 and 15; a golf cart on hole No. 11; a Sunriser motorcycle on holes 8, 11, and 15; P100,000 worth of free bet coupons on all par-3 holes; and cash for thepar-3 special.
Registration for the tournament is still open and entry fee has been pegged at P3,500 per player. This already covers the green fee, giveaways, the par-3 special, insurance, and pull cart.
Hole-in-one sponsors are Hyundai Cebu, Texas Eagle Golf Cars and Utility Vehicles, The Turf Company, Pagcor, and Norkis Trading.
The gold sponsor is Duros Development Corporation.
A ceremonial tee off is set at 7 a.m. on November 13 to formally open the tournament.
